Delivering Double

As we close the year, I want to share where we are in our Deliver Double effort. The goal is simple. Unlock twice the supply, twice the storage, twice the volunteer power and ultimately twice the impact for families across NYC.

Here is what we have already made possible together:

Storage capacity unlocked

We installed new electric capacity for a new 20’ Refrigerator. This gives us an extra truckload of capacity without a truck. We will deliver to this refrigerator with the same truck we have. This is the backbone of being able to move faster and handle more food every week.

Supply unlocked

We brought on three new produce vendors and expanded our weekly pipeline of healthy food. More partners means more produce and consistency for the communities that rely on us.

Volunteer power unlocked

This was a banner year for volunteer groups. More than 150 groups showed up to fuel our work. It’s now in reach for us to have twice the volunteers and drivers to open a second shift to move twice the produce.

Now here is what remains to fully unlock Deliver Double for 2026:

New carts

We need a new set of carts designed for safer, faster turnaround. These will let our team reset and run a second shift. 

New leadership roles

Running a produce party takes volunteer leaders that step up. We now have Sheri Lyons on the team to build out our service model to enable those that want to step up get involved in roles that make the Produce Party run smoothly.

New tech

We hired our first Full Stack Software Engineer this year. Tohidul is developing the tools to enable a second shift, and make badly needed upgrades for our duct tape tech system to allow us to scale to double and then beyond. We have already seen amazing results in building out new capabilities with technology to help us scale our Sandwich Race program by 170% this year. 

We are close. The foundation is being built. The momentum is real.
